Zomato, a leading player in India’s online food delivery and restaurant discovery space, has announced the appointment of Aditya Mangla as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its food ordering and delivery business. The appointment, approved by the board of directors on July 6, 2025, is for a two-year term, effective immediately.
Mangla succeeds Rakesh Ranjan, who has completed his two-year tenure as CEO of the food ordering and delivery business and will transition to an advisory role within the company. Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO of Eternal (Zomato’s parent company), had temporarily overseen the food delivery operations since April 2025 following Ranjan’s earlier resignation.

Aditya Mangla brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having been an integral part of Zomato’s food delivery operations since joining the company in March 2021. During his tenure, he has held several key leadership positions, including Head of Product for food delivery, Head of Supply, and Head of Customer Experience. In these roles, he was instrumental in strengthening Zomato’s restaurant partner networks and enhancing customer engagement across its digital platforms. Most recently, he also served as Chief of Staff to Deepinder Goyal.
In an internal note to employees, Deepinder Goyal emphasized the significance of this leadership change. “This isn’t just a change of roles. It’s a signal for the kind of leadership we need as we move into our next chapter,” Goyal wrote, adding that the company requires leaders who can “navigate complexity with decisiveness and humility,” “move fast but stay thoughtful,” and “carry the courage to make decisions even when the outcomes are uncertain.” He lauded Mangla’s ability to “see the invisible cause and effect” and his humility to learn.
Mangla’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture for Zomato’s core food delivery business, which has recently experienced a slowdown in growth. His leadership will be critical in driving innovation, optimizing operations, and navigating the increasingly competitive landscape, which includes ongoing dialogues with restaurant associations regarding commission models and heightened competition from other delivery platforms.
With a Master’s degree in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon University and a PGP in Management from the Indian School of Business, Aditya Mangla’s strong academic background, combined with his extensive operational experience across product, marketing, and P&L roles in various startups and technology-driven companies, positions him well to lead Zomato’s food delivery business into its next phase of growth.
